Postdoctoral Faculty Fellow in Neuroscience at Boston University, Undergraduate Program in Neuroscience
The Boston University Undergraduate Program in Neuroscience is seeking two qualified candidates for its Postdoctoral Faculty Fellows (PFF) program, supported in part by a grant to Boston University from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute through the Precollege and Undergraduate Science Education Program. Fellows may begin as early as September 1, 2010, but no later than January 1, 2011. Appointments are full-time, and require a minimum 2-year commitment with duties divided between teaching and research. This program is designed for recent Ph.D. recipients who plan to pursue academic careers combining teaching and research, and will provide each fellow with a competitive stipend, including benefits and an annual travel budget to attend a national teaching conference and scientific meeting. Postdoctoral Faculty Fellows will work closely with a faculty mentor to develop curricula for lecture and lab courses, and will participate in guided instructional experiences teaching 1-2 undergraduate neuroscience courses per academic year. We are seeking one candidate with research experience in human neuroimaging and related methodologies (e.g. fMRI, MEG, TMS), and psychophysics. The second candidate will have a research background in cellular and systems neuroscience, that includes animal behavior and physiology, microscopy, surgical and histological techniques, and neuroanatomy. Additionally, Fellows will be expected to remain research active while in the program. Research interests of potential research mentors include: mechanisms and neural substrates of human perception, attention, and working memory (human neuroimaging and psychophysics); aphasia (human neuroimaging and psychophysics); chemosensory systems and olfactory communication (neuroendocrinology and rodent models).
