The Department of Biology at Swarthmore College invites applications for a tenure-track position in animal behavior at the assistant professor level, beginning September 2012.  Applicants should have a Ph.D., teaching experience, and a strong commitment to undergraduate education.  Post-doctoral experience is desirable.  Successful candidates should be committed to combining teaching and research at a small liberal arts college and will be prepared to contribute to an integrative Biology curriculum.  They will be expected to establish an independent, active research program that will provide opportunities for undergraduate participation. In addition, there are opportunities for participating in interdisciplinary programs in Neuroscience and Environmental Studies. We seek a broadly trained animal behaviorist whose research and course offerings complement those of other faculty in the department. Teaching responsibilities include participation in a team-taught introductory course, a one-semester course in animal behavior with a laboratory and/or field component, and an advanced seminar with research projects in the area of the applicant’s interest.
