The Smith College Program in Neuroscience invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship beginning July 1, 2012. The Eveillard Postdoctoral Fellowship is a continuing initiative at Smith College that offers a combined teaching and research postdoctoral position at a selective liberal arts college. Teaching responsibilities are two courses each year, to include contributions to the program’s sophomore experimental methods course and a course within the candidate’s area of expertise. The candidate will also conduct independent research with the focus aligned to a current Neuroscience faculty member's research program (e.g. neuroendocrinology, neurodevelopment, neuropharmacology, behavioral and cognitive neuroscience; see http://www.science.smith.edu/departments/NeuroSci/ for a complete list of faculty research interests and facilities). A Ph.D. is required, and a commitment to undergraduate education is essential.

Exceptional resources to support research and teaching include an AAALAC-accredited animal care facility, a zebrafish facility, the Centers for Molecular Biology, Proteomics, and Microscopy & Imaging. Departments and Programs in Psychology, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, and Environmental Science & Policy facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration. The Five College Consortium, comprised of Smith, Amherst, Mount Holyoke, and Hampshire Colleges and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, provides a rich intellectual and cultural life for faculty and students, as well as collegial opportunities for teaching and research.

Submit application at http://jobs.smith.edu with cover letter, curriculum vitae, a teaching philosophy statement, and a statement identifying a faculty research project of interest to you. Review of applications will begin on November 7, 2011. Smith College is an equal opportunity employer encouraging excellence through diversity.
