Post-Doctoral Fellow in Ion Channel Cellular and Molecular Physiology.  An opportunity for a highly motivated, hands-on, and multi-talented researcher to study the modulation of potassium channels by membrane-derived lipid signaling molecules. Position is funded by an NIH grant.  Opportunities to produce, present, develop, and mentor student research are present within an undergraduate setting in the Biology Department at the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia.  (See www.biology.richmond.edu for more information on the departmental goals, research done with undergraduates, and faculty/staff profiles.)  The post-doctoral fellow will complete some of the planned research and will also have opportunities to initiate new research aligned with the research program’s focus on lipid modulation of ion channels.  The primary teaching responsibility is the mentorship of two or more undergraduate research students in the lab including technical training, assistance with experimental design, guidance and side-by-side help with collection and analysis of data, and preparation for presentation of the work by undergraduates.  A doctoral degree in a relevant discipline and cellular electrophysiology experience are required; some molecular biology experience is preferred.  A commitment to doing research with undergraduates is needed.  Start date is between January 1, 2012 and May 1, 2012.  To learn more about this position and to apply, please visit the University of Richmond’s on-line jobs site at www.urjobs.org/ and select the “Staff (Salaried)” option to view the position listings (this is position number 501824).  Applicants will be asked to complete a brief application as well as provide a curriculum vitae, cover letter, and statement of research interests.  Any questions prior to the application as well as the required two letters of recommendation should be sent to the Principal Investigator, Linda M.
