Reporting to the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, the Dean provides support and leadership for undergraduate and graduate programs in the departments of Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Special Education; Health, Physical Education and Sport Sciences; Psychology and Counseling; Teacher Education; and the Center for Excellence in Education. The College also conducts outreach through Childhood Services, the Education Renewal Zone, the Northeast Arkansas Mathematics and Science Education Partnership and the Office of Professional Education Programs. Responsibilities include: faculty recruiting and development; improving enrollment and graduation rates; developing community partnerships; expanding fundraising and externally funded research; maintaining appropriate program accreditations; curriculum development; contributing to the globalization efforts of the University; and facilitating the continued transition of the University into a more research intensive institution. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Qualifications:
The applicant should have an earned doctorate in one of the disciplines in the college; successful teaching experience; a record of scholarly and professional achievements significantly strong to qualify for rank and tenure in one of the college’s departments; a minimum of 3 years prior academic administrative experience at the level of chair or equivalent; the communication skills necessary to promote the college’s mission; and demonstrated ability to foster a positive and collegial environment through a collaborative leadership style. Applicants should demonstrate strong commitment to teaching excellence; leading undergraduate and cross-disciplinary graduate programs; administrative, budgetary, and other leadership experiences; participation in successful fundraising activities and demonstrated accomplishments in enhancing diversity of faculty and students.

ASU (www.astate.edu) is a public, multi-campus higher education system with enrollment in excess of 22,000 students. Approximately 14,000 students attend the Jonesboro campus where the student body is diverse. The campus has a renewed focus on international student recruitment and capital campaign development.
