The Psychology Department at Furman University announces a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2013. We seek a broadly trained behavioral/cognitive neuroscientist to teach biopsychology, sensation and perception, an upper-level seminar in an area of interest, and a course in neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, or human neuropsychology. Other teaching responsibilities may include general psychology or a first-year seminar. A PhD is required, and teaching experience is preferred.  

Candidates must be committed to exemplary teaching and to maintaining a productive program of research with undergraduates. The Psychology Department has outstanding teaching space, well-equipped laboratories, and excellent university support for teaching and undergraduate research, including substantial start-up funds. The psychology department’s research program supports approximately 24 research students each summer. The teaching load is 5 courses (or 4 lab courses) per year divided over 2 semesters.  

The successful candidate will join the 10-member Psychology Department and will be expected to contribute to both the psychology and neuroscience majors. The neuroscience major is an interdisciplinary program that is led by 2 psychologists and 3 biologists.
