Assistant Professor of Biology - Cell/Molecular Biology
Centenary College of Louisiana seeks a tenure-track, Assistant Professor in Biology to begin fall term 2013 in the Biology Department and Neuroscience Program. Doctorate in a related field is required. Candidates must possess demonstrable skills in, and commitment to, undergraduate teaching and research. Teaching responsibilities will include a sophomore level course in cell biology and an upper level genetics course. There will be an opportunity to develop upper-division courses in area of expertise, including, but not limited to, virology, cell physiology, molecular biology, neuroscience, and developmental biology. Inquiry-based learning is emphasized in the department and successful candidates will be expected to engage undergraduate students in legitimate research experiences in the classroom and the lab.
The Biology department has a well-equipped core molecular facility, and opportunities exist for collaborative research with faculty at the nearby Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. There are excellent funding opportunities, and the college has a high success rate in securing funds for teaching and research.
