2009 Travel Award Application Now Available

We welcome dues-paying members of the Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience (FUN) to sponsor nominees for a FUN Undergraduate Student Travel Award.  The award offers aid for expenses associated with attending the Society for Neuroscience 2009 meeting for an undergraduate student who is presenting a poster. All student travel award applications must have a faculty sponsor who is a dues-paying member of FUN.

The student should be an author on the abstract and present research results from studies conducted while an undergraduate.  It is not necessary that the student be enrolled as an undergraduate at the time of the SFN meeting.  Students are eligible if the work was done as a graduating senior the previous year.

A panel of FUN members judges the award applications.  The judging criteria focus on the student’s contribution to the project, the importance and originality of the project, and the candidate’s potential in science.  Preference is given to students who are first author on an abstract.  Only one award will be given among students from a single institution.

Please visit our website at www.funfaculty.org to download the application from the Travel Application tab. Current membership (including dues payment) is required for access to the application.  If you are not a member or have not recently paid your dues click the Join FUN link on the navigation menu.

The student’s sponsor must submit an email containing the application document as an attachment to Dr. Jennifer Yates (jryates@owu.edu) by May 21, 2009.  When submitting the application, please write “FUN Travel Award Submission” in the subject line.

Manning the SfN booth

I am a new member of FUN but am interested in volunteering for manning the FUN booth for a session during SfN. I cannot find information on how to do this. Can anyone help? Thanks! Megan St. Peters (meganstp@umich.edu)
