 Bucknell University, Department of Psychology invites applications for an entry-level tenure track assistant professor position (qualified applicants for entry level positions will have no more than four years of post-doctoral full-time teaching at the time of appointment), in the broad area of biological bases of behavior, beginning in August 2010.  As part of the five-course per year teaching load, the successful candidate will be expected to teach some combination of the basic and advanced psychology courses in Physiological Psychology, Learning, Animal Behavior, or Sensation and Perception that also support the programs in Animal Behavior or Neuroscience.  Successful candidates will also contribute to an introductory course in General Psychology, Introduction to Neuroscience, or Statistics.  Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to our College Core Curriculum: opportunities and institutional support exist for developing first-year foundation seminars, sophomore-year team-taught integrated perspective courses, and writing-intensive courses in the discipline.  An active research program that involves mentorship of undergraduates is also expected.  Opportunity exists to supervise Master’s degree students in Psychology and in Animal Behavior.  University facilities support teaching and research involving small animals, humans, and non-invasive studies of non-human primates.  Preference will be given to candidates who will have earned a Ph.D. in an area of psychology with a biological basis or a related area, by the time of the appointment.  Bucknell is a highly selective, primarily undergraduate (3500 undergraduates and 250 masters students) institution, combining a strong liberal arts tradition with characteristics of a comprehensive university.  Applications should be completed online at http://www.bucknell.edu/jobs and should include vitae, reprints and preprints, a descriptive research program statement, and materials demonstrating evidence of success or promise in teaching.  In addition 3 letters of reference should be submitted online at http://www.bucknell.edu/jobs.  Applications will be reviewed beginning November 15, 2009, and continue until the position is filled.  Bucknell University values a diverse college community and is committed to excellence through diversity in its faculty, staff, and students.  570-577-1200 or jwade@bucknell.edu for more information.  Visit www.departments.bucknell.edu/psychology for more information about the department.
