UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT TRAVEL AWARDS

| Do you know an
undergraduate who will be presenting a poster at the 2008 Society for Neuroscience meeting in Washington D.C.? He or she is encouraged to apply for a Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience (FUN) Undergraduate Student Travel Award to attend the meeting. Remember, only dues paying members of FUN may sponsor nominees. If your membership dues have lapsed, renew them today! Annual dues are only $35! Each year since
1992 FUN has awarded travel grants to assist undergraduates presenting
their research at the annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience.
Funds for this purpose have been provided through the generosity of
sustaining members, individual memberdues, and additional
contributions from the members of FUN. FUN is a
not-for-profit organization. Donations are tax-deductible.
Anyone wishing to contribute to the Student Travel Award fund may contribute online by
cash, check or charge or by contacting:

TRAVEL AWARD APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

We
welcome dues-paying members of the Faculty for Undergraduate
Neuroscience (FUN) to sponsor nominees for a FUN Undergraduate Student
Travel Award. The award offers aid for expenses associated with
attending the Society for Neuroscience 2008 meeting for an
undergraduate student who is presenting a poster. All student award
travel award applications must have a faculty sponsor who is a dues
paying member of FUN.
The student should be an author on the abstract and present research results from studies conducted while an undergraduate. It is not necessary that the student be enrolled as an undergraduate at the time of the SFN fall meeting. Students are eligible if the work was done as a graduating senior the previous year. A panel of FUN members judges the award applications. The judging criteria focus on the student’s contribution to the project, the importance and originality of the project, and the candidate’s potential in science. Preference is given to students who are first author on an abstract. Only one award is given to students from a single institution. Download the application in Word format. The student’s sponsor must submit an email containing the application document as an attachment to Dr. Chris Korey (koreyc@cofc.edu) by May 21, 2008.
