Earlham College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology. This full-time position in the Department of Psychology begins in July 2018. The area of specialization is open. The appointment is for up to three years. A tenure-track line may become available during that time.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have a teaching load of three courses per semester (with a one course reduction in the first year). In addition to courses in the candidate’s area of interest, teaching responsibilities could include Research Methods and Statistics or Introductory Psychology.  The College is looking for a candidate to provide breadth to the Department of Psychology, which may include contributions to Earlham’s interdisciplinary programs. The successful candidate also will engage in scholarly activities to which undergraduate students may make meaningful contributions.

Departmental & Institutional Information

The Psychology major is the second largest on campus and the Neuroscience major is one of the larger interdisciplinary majors. The Earlham College student body is diverse (22.5% international, 26.9% domestic students of color), and there are multiple opportunities to work with students in meaningful ways both in and out of the classroom.

Experience & Qualifications

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Psychology or related field at the time of appointment. ABD will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience and evidence of teaching effectiveness.
