The Department of Molecular Biology and Chemistry at Christopher Newport University invites applications for a tenure track, Assistant Professor position in Biology or Chemistry, effective August 2019. The ability to contribute to the Neuroscience program is desired. Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, or a closely related field is required for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor and post-doc experience is preferred. In some cases, exceptionally well-qualified candidates may be considered for appointment at a higher rank and ABD candidates who will not hold the Ph.D. by the time of appointment may be considered for appointment at the rank of Instructor. Phi Beta Kappa membership is highly desirable.
The University seeks a teacher-scholar committed to undergraduate education who will engage students in creative intellectual challenges and pursue a robust research program in their field. The applicant may have the opportunity to develop courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, teach lower division courses in our Liberal Learning Core, and support the M.S. in Environmental Science. The nominal teaching load for this appointment is 3-3.
