Term Assistant Professor, Interdisciplinary Program in Neuroscience


The George Mason University Interdisciplinary Program in Neuroscience (IPN) invites applications for a Term Assistant Professor beginning mid-August 2019 (Fall 2019) through mid-May 2020 (Spring 2020). We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic individual to teach, develop, and advise undergraduate and graduate courses contributing to the growth of the IPN such as neuroanatomy and cellular neuroscience. Specific duties include teaching a standard course load (typically 4:4) that may include core courses, electives and laboratory courses in addition to standard service activities such as student advising and serving on administrative committees. This is a great opportunity for an energetic and talented scholar who is interested in developing his/her teaching skills by working with students. This position has a strong potential for renewal in future academic years, depending on performance and program enrollment.


Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in neuroscience, biology or a related field with strong teaching credentials.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some teaching experience or postdoctoral training desirable.
