Teaching Assistant Professor
ENDOWED APPOINTMENT-STREAM TEACHING POSTION
DISCOVERY-BASED NEUROSCIENCE LABORATORY

Applications are invited for an endowed appointment-stream teaching position (equivalent to a Teaching Assistant Professor) starting September 2022.  This recruitment is focused on individuals who can develop and teach a new discovery-based neuroscience laboratory course for undergraduates focused on using invertebrate species to study learning. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to other teaching in the Department of Neuroscience to round
out a full-time academic year teaching load. Appointment-stream teaching faculty are full time, and completely integrated into all activities in the Department of Neuroscience. Collegial interactions are widespread within the Department of Neuroscience (http://www.neuroscience.pitt.edu/), and across the extensive, outstanding, and growing, neuroscience community found in Pittsburgh.  Our neuroscience environment is exemplified by the Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh (CNUP; https://www.cnup.pitt.edu/about), the University of Pittsburgh Brain Institute (https://www.braininstitute.pitt.edu/about/welcome) and the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition (CNBC; https://www.cnbc.cmu.edu/), which bridges the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.

Requirements Required qualifications are a doctoral degree and postdoctoral training in neuroscience or a related field, and experience with using invertebrate species as research models for the study of neuroscience.  Desired qualifications include a record of service and teaching experience.
