Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Behavioral Neuroscience (Psychology Dept)
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR. The Department of Psychology at the College of Charleston invites applications for a tenure-track position in Behavioral Neuroscience at the assistant professor level to enhance our major programs and interdisciplinary neuroscience minor. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience or a related field and demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and maintaining an active research program capable of involving undergraduate students. The specific research area within behavioral neuroscience is open.
We are particularly interested in candidates who will complement the strengths of existing psychology and neuroscience faculty and whose primary area of research is feasible for student mentoring at the College of Charleston. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the interdisciplinary neuroscience program. Primary teaching responsibilities will include foundational courses in neuroscience, a specialized neuroscience elective course related to the candidate’s field of expertise, and other courses in the Psychology major. A typical semester load would normally include 9 credit hours.
The College of Charleston, located in Charleston, SC, is a public liberal arts and sciences institution of 11,000 students with a commitment to excellence in teaching and research. The College of Charleston boasts a recently renovated science facility to support the research needs of the successful candidate. Furthermore, the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is located a few blocks from the main campus and offers the opportunity for research collaboration.
