The Emory University Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology Program (NBB) seeks a Teaching Professor (open rank) who will contribute to undergraduate teaching and mentoring and who will provide leadership and service to the NBB program and Emory College. The appointment is for a regular faculty member, with primary responsibilities in teaching, program administration, and service. This is an established teaching track with opportunities for reappointment and promotion. The Emory College of Arts and Sciences supports professional excellence through faculty development programs and values representation from teaching-track faculty in College and University governance and service.

Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology is an interdepartmental undergraduate program representing an interdisciplinary range from cellular and molecular neuroscience to neuroanatomy and behavior. The program’s success comes from the expertise, enthusiasm, and commitment of 8 core faculty, 6 of them teaching-track professors, and is supported by a larger community of 54 faculty in associated departments and programs across the University. NBB is committed to nurturing and supporting students of all races, ethnicities, and gender identities, and those who identify as LGBTQ+, in a respectful environment. This search is part of a multi-year Emory initiative to foster equity and to promote the success of our diverse student population. A successful candidate will have a PhD in a field that contributes meaningfully to NBB’s curricular goals and an outstanding record of teaching, curricular development, and student academic advising. The new faculty member will teach two courses per semester, including 1-2 required NBB courses and 2-3 electives that round out the NBB curriculum. Applicants with demonstrated effectiveness teaching diverse students, engaging critical thinking, and applying evidence-based instructional techniques are of particular interest.
