Master''s or PhD students: Neural Circuits/Neuromodulation
NIH funded project seeking MS or PhD candidates. Neural circuits are constantly changing and adapting to enable organisms to produce the correct versions of behaviors to deal with changes in our internal and external environments. We have found that the synaptic strength of feedback loops between neural circuits and their descending inputs are also altered by different modulatory states. Funded positions available (MS and PhD) to learn how to study rhythmic circuits and to address questions about the impact of changes in feedback loop strength for rhythmic behaviors such as breathing, chewing, and walking. We use electrophysiological approaches including hybrid computational-biological networks and small circuits to understand the tremendous flexibility of neural circuits. Experience in electrophysiology not required. Contact Dawn Blitz for more information.
