Position Information

The Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Florida Southern College invites applications for tenure track appointment as a full-time, Assistant Professor of Psychology. The position will begin in August 2024.

A Ph.D. in psychology by the time of the appointment is required; A.B.D. will be considered if completion of the Ph.D. is assured prior to the beginning of Fall 2024 semester. The selected candidate will teach three, 4-credit hour courses per semester. The ideal candidate should be able to teach a variety of psychology courses such as Introduction to Psychology (General Psychology), Developmental Psychology, Research Design and Statistics, Learning and Behavior, and Tests and Measures. Additional courses that may part of the course load include Abnormal Psychology (or Behavior Disorders), Clinical Psychology, and/or Behavioral Neuroscience. Prior teaching experience in these aforementioned areas will be advantageous. The successful candidate will possess and demonstrate a passion for student-centered learning and student engagement, collegiality, and concern for students. In addition, the role includes participation in academic advising, collaborative research with students, scholarship, professional development, and campus governance and involvement.
