Assistant Professor of Biology
The Simpson College Biology and Environmental Science Department invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Teaching responsibilities will begin in August 2021. We seek a broadly trained neurobiologist who complements existing strengths in the biology and neuroscience programs to join our academically diverse and collegial team.
Duties of the position entail teaching courses at all levels of the undergraduate biology curriculum, including neuroscience, human anatomy, human physiology, and an upper-level course in the applicant’s area of interest. The teaching load is 3-3, and faculty are expected to participate in academic advising, new student recruiting, governance, undergraduate research, and other activities that support the mission of the college. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate a commitment to developing an equitable and diverse academic environment in teaching, mentoring, research, and service. This includes providing effective instruction and advising to under-represented students, mentoring students from diverse backgrounds, seeking opportunities to write and develop internal and/or external grants aimed at creating an inclusive environment in the classroom and college.
